A new Public Realm Plan for Aarhus Ø

Yesterday, the City of Aarhus approved our new Vision Plan for Aarhus Ø’s Public Realm – establishing for the first time a comprehensive strategic plan for the public spaces of Aarhus’ new blue-green neighborhood.

Based on deep interdisciplinary site analyses, hands-on public life experiments, and the involvement of more than 16,000(!) stakeholders, our new Vision Plan sets a joint direction for the public realm of Aarhus Ø and its many activities, spaces, aspirations, and atmospheres.
Amongst the plan’s new initiatives are the establishment of a new recreative connection between Aarhus Marina and Den Permanente, a new urban beach, a closer connection between the city and its maritime activities, an optimized flow for active mobility across Aarhus Ø, and the prioritization of public spaces and city nature for all.

Read our Vision Plan here (in Danish).
The Vision Plan is made together with our great client The City of Aarhus and our friends Aaen Engineering.

SLA exhibits New Nordic City Nature at Oslo National Museum
Today, the exhibition “New Nordic – Cuisine, Aesthetics and Place” opens at the National Museum in Oslo. SLA and Dyvik Kahlen have made a specially designed pavilion for the museum square – that takes visitors from the Michelin kitchen out into the urban realm. Its roof and landscape are planted with native, edible species from Oslo’s shores and forests, and offers a taste of New Nordic City Nature.
