Team SLA wins The International Quarter in Esbjerg
We are excited to share that Team SLA has won the project to design the new green heart of The International Quarter in Esbjerg.
The project marks phase 3 in the redevelopment of the Stengårdsvej and Jerne areas into a socially sustainable neighborhood, founded in nature, culture, and climate consciousness.
Together with our team, ReVærk, Aaen Engineering, and NIRAS, we will create a new social focal point: revitalizing the local park ‘Portalparken’ with calm meeting places, a new rainwater lake, and biodiverse nature – alongside a new neighborhood square centered on everyday life and food culture, featuring a pavilion built from local clay.
Representatives from the City of Esbjerg, Realdania, Esebolig, and others are behind the selection of the winning team:

Our process will be driven by circular principles and reuse – and will continue a bottom-up approach through creative placemaking, building on the strong foundation of local engagement.
The project will be developed for the City of Esbjerg and receives support from Realdania and DIN Forsyning.
Construction is set for completion in 2028.
