When a new housing area is planned, the way in which it relates to the surrounding buildings and landscape should always be taken into consideration. In SLA’s landscape and building plan for the housing area Ørbyvang in Rødovre, the plan is adjusted to the existing villa quarter.

Instead of beginning from an empty site, the existing trees are retained as a main element that creates identity and connects with the history of the place. The form of the landscape and positioning of new buildings is thus shaped out of a desire to achieve harmony with what already exists.
