| If one is to establish a completely new neighbourhood between existing housing areas, it is important to consider the surroundings. Dialogue with all future users and stakeholders is fundamental to SLA’s landscape strategy and development plan for the 120 ha large residential development, Langagergård, that lies as a wedge in the middle of Greve surrounded by existing residential neighbourhoods, infrastructure and the sea. |
|
|||
| An in-depth public participation process, including residents’ hearings and public debates, was initiated first. During the entire process SLA have worked closely with a steering group comprising politicians and officers from the municipal planning department. In this way the various actors of the municipality have contributed actively and constructively in all the phases of the project – Langagergård has therefore become a development the whole municipality feels ownership of.

In Langagergård the existing values of the landscape is the actual attraction. The special quality of the landscape is therefore preserved and enhanced, like the feeling of nearness to the sea. The neighbourhood weaves itself into a multifaceted recreational landscape space that functions as a meeting point for widely different users with the housing placed as islands in the serene water meadow. |

SLA has made a masterplan for the urban developement of the Langagergård area in 2001 and i 2005 we made a project proposal and supply material for the landscape development in collaboration with Rambøll.
The detailing and construction comission was won by Gorm Hansen & Søn with Cowi and Møller & Grønborg as advisors. SLA is participating as project coordinator for the Municipality of Greve. |

The Municipality of Greve wished that the construction is carried out in close collaboration and dialogue between the involved parties, including the municipality's own administration. For this reason this phase of the project was launched with an event and a workshop on the 31st of January 2006, where the participants among other things took a walk in the area to find out the 5 most important elements and values in the project. |

The first turf for the 1st stage of the development of the landscape in the new residential area was cut on the 22th of February. 1st stage is 53 ha. large and will contain stretches of meadow land, paths, new roads and tree plantings.
The Mayor Hans Barlach and the building contractor Gorm Hansen & Son cut the first turf, which marked the beginning of the construction. SLA is project coordinator for the municipality in the detailing. |

According to planning 1st stage of the landscape will be finished in summer 2007. Alongside the construction of the landscape, the construction of the first two residential ‘islands’, each offering 125 homes, is expected to begin.
Views of the landscape in the autumn 2006. The meadows are wet and soon the groves will be planted. |
