As one of four Danish municipalities the Municipality of Vordingborg has won the support of the Heritage Agency of Denmark and the Realdania Foundation to develop their local physical heritage. SLA is process and programming consultant to the municipality.
The goal is to implement the cultural heritage into the municipal planning strategy, to make it generate new life to the historical country towns and to develop the rural districts, in order to attract new citizens and tourists, and to strengthen local identity.
The citizens have been involved in the project. For instance a public meeting for local citizens was held September 2nd 2009. At the meeting ideas for future development was proposed. The ideas were presented in a fictive future edition of the local paper, which was house-to-house distributed.
