Kregme |
Location: Frederiksværk |
The new residential development in Kregme must provide space for many different lifestyles. There will be opportunity for development of urban character, village life, recreational spaces, urban spaces and landscape qualities in the neighbourhood and in the private gardens. The structure plan consists of building plots of varying size that can be freely programmed for detached or terraced houses, free standing townhouses or kept free of development to become communal spaces or gardens. This flexibility gives the opportunity for gradual development of the area. |
Access to the neighbourhood is provided from the south-eastern corner of the site by an avenue of cherry trees. The avenue continues diagonally up through the low lying parts of the terrain and terminates in one of the communal spaces, positioned on the highest point of the site in the north-western corner of the site. Around the cherry tree avenue is a meandering drainage system of ditches, ponds and wetland areas. The drainage channels reach up between the dwellings and provide natural boundaries to the private gardens. |

The site is subdivided into smaller clusters of 20-50 houses. Each cluster is characterized by a specific type of street tree such as Golden Weeping Willow, Sycamore, Rowan or Japanese Black Pine. The development is orientated towards grove plantations that frame the site and become a shared recreational space where residents can meet, go for an evening walk, go jogging, walk the dog or play. |
