The location of the Brattoera quay by the Trondheim Fjord makes the quay attractive for all the residents of the town. There is good contact with water and the unique position makes the area suitable as an urban space. Here we can experience the meeting of sky, sea and mountains, that form silhouettes in the great landscape. Nature – the sea – is the most important attraction of the place and it gives Brattoera its exceptional, harsh identity.

SLA proposes to enrich Brattoera with a simple and easily accessible urban landscape that reflects the dynamic nature and robustness of the sea. At the same time it promotes activities and sensory experiences. The aim is to encourage the many people who move around the area to use the space. To inspire them to linger by the attractions of the space.

Fjordallmenningen – a new urban space by the harbour in Brattoera - comprises few elements, all organised on one cohesive surface of dark asphalt without level changes.This simple organisation of the urban space without disruptive transitions will encourage play and sitting as well as temporary uses such as market days and open air concerts.

The urban space between Pirbadet and Tollboden is inspired by floating ice flakes on the sea. Lush moss covered hillocks break the large scale of the harbour into smaller spaces. Sheltered by the hillocks you can sun bathe or sit until far into the night to experience the changing light and mystical silhouettes of the fjord.
