The task in Ballerup Midt is to rethink the suburbs, and enhance the experience of the city center and lay the foundations for a development where the health of humans and an active city life is the center.
Team SLA response has been to condense both the city landscape, experience and functionally basis for a new suburban typology. It is a rethinking of the suburban space, a kind of "suburb 2.0"

SLA sees the city as a part of nature's ecosystem and reversed nature as an integral part of the city. SLA uses this as a planning tool showed in the proposal.

There has been an active process involving the town's citizens, including three workshops where they were briefed on the status of projects and was able to comment on this and engage in dialogue with team members.

The jury wrote that "SLA with their focus on urban spaces - especially green urban spaces - can be said to be the team that has the most robust key grip".
