Other SLA projects focussing on children, movement and the city

The Tingbjerg-Utterslev houses, drawn by the masters C. Th. Sørensen and Steen Eiler Rasmussen, are as close as can be to typical Danish suburban development. Taking outset in defined building and landscape types, an urban environment was created marked by simple variation in a landscape inspired by Danish landscape motives such as the grove, meadow and woodland.

. Decades later, the circumstances of the suburb and the composition of residents are no longer as homogenous as in the 1950s. Tingbjerg is now a diverse community of different nationalities and languages, which also challenges the design of the outdoor spaces. Together with 100 residents divided into 11 working groups SLA developed a master plan to give the area new life and relevance for the residents.

The masterplan creates new nature experiences in the large green space and aesthetic values to the benefit of the residents. SLA ’s masterplan proposes the establishment of new streets, squares and natural areas, that can provide the setting for community activities for the residents of the neighbourhood as well as considering individual needs.

Three demonstration projects, a new playground, a new barbeque and seating area and new lighting in countless varieties, are realised as wealthscapes, that add very distinctive experiences and identity to the suburb.
