At the request of the Municipality of Gentofte SLA have proposed a vision for the town centre and the many urban spaces in Gentofte, based on the municipality’s desire to retain and strengthen the six decentral suburban centres.

Using the tool city-space mixer prepared for the purpose, SLA shows how an attractive framework can be ensured for social and cultural life in the suburban centres with informal meeting places, spaces for sojourn and increased comfort and safety for pedestrians and shoppers.

The city-space mixer makes it possible for the residents to prioritise the different interventions in the revitalisation of the centres, just as a musician builds his composition from different parts or tracks. The proposal optimises convenience in through-flow of traffic with parking and safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

SLA propose to revitalise the suburban centres so that the residents prefer the local atmosphere and culture in the local environment to shopping and seeking attractions in other places.

The renovation is to develop local shopping opportunities, make the suburbs attractive and create a lively town culture. In other words create such attractions in the town environment that the suburban centres receive both new experiences and added economic value.
